CL77 Fender Stay

Post by cbxmountainman » Fri Feb 12, 2010 8:14 am

Am in need of a really good condition front fender stay. Eight hole version if you would please for a 1966 CL77. The one on the bike presently is the six hole which is the early version ? Thanks for any/all help/info. A friend in Italy is restoring one. Charlie AKA cbxmountainman. Email on/off list OK. cbxman@nc.net

The 8 hole is the early issue and used with the steel sliders. (1965)
The 6 is the 1966/67 issue for the aluminum sliders. .............lm

Fender Stay

Post by cbxmountainman » Fri Feb 12, 2010 5:19 pm

Thanks LM. I knew it had to be one or the other. Old grey matter gets somewhat dim these days. Any way. my friend in Italy has a eight hole fender and a six hole stay. I do believe he wants to restore it back to its original condition. Bike is a 1966 and he says the stay is slightly tweaked while I believe it would be easier to obtain the correct fender. Charlie

Pretty sure that the 8-hole fender will line up with a 6 hole stay - you just have two spare holes to weld up........

The reverse is true. You just have to drill two more holes in a 6-hole fender to fit an 8-hole stay.

I have both types so could check.
