Western MD Nostalgia Run1 week to prepare! The Superhawk is back together after holing a piston (predetonation). Shouldn't see that issue again after installing the electronic ignition. Port matched the heads and manifolds, did the gear swap, now all that's left is retourqueing the head and putting the swingarm back on the wife's bike (new bushings).
Vince, in case you're going, a group will be meeting and leaveing the shop around 9:30 and meeting up with me and whoever else in Frederick. With any luck, I'll be helmet cam'ing again. Got to figure out how to post the footage!
According to the flyer, signup starts at 9:30 and bikes start leaving by 10:30. Where's your shop exactly? If you're leaving at 9:30 does that give you guys enough time to get there? My plan was to get to Thurmont earlier and have a leasurely breakfast at that little restaurant that I mentioned. If you guys are going to have an earlier breakfast, let me know and we'll hook up.....
Nice pic, Vince. Glad you enjoyed the ride. Only one vintage breakdown, a T500 with a broken chain. Thanks for the chase truck, WMRRA.
I especially enjoyed looking in my mirror to see the 14 bikes I was leading catching air 1 by 1 as they came over the suprise hump on the 2nd leg! I purposely held back to let the group ahead of me gain some distance and then twisted the throttle hard at the last minute. My wife was right behind me and new what to expect, (she enjoys making her bike fly)but the rest of the riders had not been on this one before with the exception of one, who flew his Valkyrie Interstate on it 2 years back! Luckily, no one had to change their pants. No neophytes in my group, or else I can't enjoy it to the fullest. The twisties were great, the 'Hawk was running great (thanks for the help LM). The cool mountain air at Michaux was a welcome treat as well as the scenery. Now it's another year long wait for my favorite ride.
