Hello,
Just got my superhawk recently and love the bike!! The problem im having right now is that when I pull the throttle it doesn't return. Other than that, the throttle to each carb seems to be synced up, and the adjustments on the handlebar side and the carb side seem to be as tight as it will get.
Could I need a new throttle return spring? Whats the part number? The schematic i found didnt list it
Has any body tried to replace the spring with a different one to give it more of a snap? How about some kind of spacer to compress the spring in the carb?
Should I try replacing the throttle cable?
thanks everybody for your help!!

The problem is not likely the spring but most probably an old crusty cable which can be lubed.
First try sticking your finger in the throat of the carb and lifting the slide up an inch and let it return to the bottom by itself. It should snap back and hit the bottom with a snap. If so, look to the cables.
If not then you may have some carb cleaning to do. Keep us posted, RW

DG,
This is really a matter of personal choice. If money is not an object as it would be in some cases, or if the old one just looks crappy to boot, then go ahead and replace it. For the rider and to get ya back on the road, I'd remove the cables from the carbs first. Then you can tell if the cables are sliding freely. If not, remove it and squirt some solvent down the sleeve until it frees up. Then I would try getting some silicone spray in there for lube. Others may have a different approach but that's my two cents. RW

Re: Throttle Problem
Ya may want to loosen the 2 screws at the lever perch and move the throttle out a bit in case it may be installed to far on the bar and the end of the grip is hitting the end of the bars. ...............lm
