Points adjusters

Post by Snakeoil » Mon Sep 06, 2010 12:35 pm

There are two little adjusting cams for the point on my CLL77. These are part 11a in the CB77 parts book. I was not aware these loose pieces were behind the points when I removed them. One fell on my lift when I was looking at the points and the other was no where to be found. Not sure if it fell off when I took them off or if one was already missing. Anyway, my question is, when you buy new points, do these adjusters come with the points? I'll know to look for these in the future. But I'm wondering if these were chronically lost by do-it-yourselfers the first time they removed their points.

I even stuck a magnet down inside my jug of drain oil and dirty parts cleaner to see it was in there, but no luck.

Thanks,
Rob

Rob, I just looked through my old points sets from my CL-77 and didn't see any, so I don't think they come with the new points............................D

Yeah, they don't come with new points. Ohio cycle has them for ~$3, but then they have a $20 minimum purchase. So if you're in the market for some other parts from them, throw in some of these 'eccentric screws', as they're called.

Points adjusters

Rob, try your local Honda (or any other brand) shop. Those adjusters were common to a lot of different bikes that used points..........................................D

Thanks for the reply, guys. I acutally don't need any, as the one lost or missing is from my very well seized and corrode spare/practice engine. I had a feeling these would not be included with the points.

I've been bitten by those minimum's for mail order before. Bought a spare light bulb for my S90 and it cost me $15 in shipping.

Appreciate the feedback.
regards,
Rob
