Float Bowl Gasket Seepage

Does anyone else have trouble with fuel seeping between the carb body and float bowl? I have new Keyster gaskets and I've removed and replaced the bowl a few times to get a good gasket seal but one or the other carbs still want to seep. Is this normal? I've checked for flatness on the bodies and the bowls and can't see a problem there. The float heights have been checked (22.5mm for my CL77) and rechecked. I would imagine a sealant is not required or even recommended.<br />George

Are you talking seepage while sitting or while riding? I'd check and clean out the needle valve the float acts on. I think the fuel is supposed to shut off before it reaches the level of the gasket.<br /><br />Matt

The carbs have been cleaned and rebuilt using Keyster rebuild kits. With LM's advice I replaced the CL77 rebuild parts with CB77 rebuild parts from Keyster. I used the old original needle keepers because the Keyster keepers obtructed full needle movement because the hole was not concentric with the needle hole. I don't know whether the forward leaning carbs (from level ground) makes the float level above the carb body/float bowl joint has the fuel level above the joint or not. The seepage is with the bike on the center stand. I also get a bit of seepage at the overflow tubes, but it doesn't &quot;run&quot;, just wet. Is it possible to lower the floats 1-2 mm (lower the float) without running out of fuel? My floats are adjusted spot on.<br />George
