Wheel/Rim Question
Wheel/Rim QuestionHow many holes are in a Dream Touring 305 wheel (1.85x16)? Is it 32 or 36? ( I believe it's 36, isn't it...?)
Is it possible and/or safe to use 32-hole rims on the Dream Touring 305, or do you HAVE to use 36-hole rims? And if it IS okay to do so, what special lacing pattern is required? Has anybody done this? Thanks; -John
I'm pretty sure I'll find an honest politician before I find a 36-hole rim, ANY rim, that will fit a Honda Dream....
What is anybody/everybody else using? Are there NO cheap rims/wheel for this bike ANYWHERE? (Besides Thailand or Japan, at $200+ a set plus shipping...)?? Even simpler: okay, I understand I'm going to get held up for a set of rims; is there ANY place that is selling 1.85x16 rims for the Honda Dream 305 CA77, preferably where you don't have to talk financing...? OR, is there a suitable substitute alloy rim that would work? I'm not trying to make this bike look like it did the day it rolled out of the factory...1964 was a long time ago..I'm just trying to find some 'affordable' rims for it so I can get rid of the rusted, corroded ones I have now...or IS there such a thing? The more I search for rims for this bike, the more I come to suspect that honkin' big-ass hub in the middle of Dream wheels was actually a planned-obsolescence item... I've been spoilt by good luck. I got David Silver's last NOS rim then found a NOS one at a swapmeet for $20. David Silver got another 'last one' and I nabbed that. I still need one more for my second Dream.
In the UK we have these folks. http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/rims/eng ... e_rim.html I think that you have Buchanans http://www.buchananspokes.net/categories/rims.asp None of this is cheap but you get to choose quality over budget. Cheers G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
