Greetings to all from warm Costa Rica! Sorry about all of you fighting the snow and cold. I hope you are able to stay warm!
My 1966 CB77 Superhawk periodically drops either the right or left cylinder, often after drifting down a long mountain - so the motor has cooled down and sucked gasoline in. The funny thing is, I can get the cylinder firing again if I remove the plug cap and hold it about 1 inch away from the spark plug! I assume I'm creating more resistance somewhere, but why that fires the plug is 'way beyond my electrical powers.
For the record, I'm running a hotter plug (the NGK #6 rather than the #8), the points are adjusted and the bike is timed correctly. When both cylinder fire (!) it runs great (that means uphill). Does this sound like a condenser issue?

Interesting scenario - CB77 drops EITHER right or left side!Sounds to me like it's too rich and on a long downhill there's a high vacuum pulling in more gas that it needs.
Moving the plug cap away means that it takes a higher voltage before it jumps and that fatter spark will light a rich mixture or a lean one better than a stock spark. Try dropping the needles one notch. Spark problemsHi Teazer - thanks. I'll give that a try!
