leaky

Post by DrScott » Wed Mar 08, 2006 6:09 pm

I've rebuilt my petcock with a retrobikes kit. The petcock was in way bad shape, very coroded inside, and the bottom of the tank where ithe petcock attaches is pitted and not flat. Bottom line gas leakes between the o-ring and the tank and probably out the side of the petcock as well. I've ordered an after martket replacement from china on Ebay but it's anybodies guess if it will work. I am thinking of brazing a fitting to the tank, attaching a standard petcock and calling it good. Any ideas?
Thanks

I used one of the retrobike kits and it is very hard to move. It was so hard to move the flexing action actully broke off the high level tube where the rubber goes thru the hole. Now I just leave bike on reserve and put a cheap mower shutoff inline so I can run my carb. down. I saw the one you probably ordered on ebay and if it still leaks just weld that fitting on. I was thinking the same thing when I realized the poor design of these.
