I've stripped my 1963 CB72 down for painting and coating.
On the swinging arm there are two types of bushes.
Bronze? ones on the spindle attaching it to the frame - 4 off.
Rubber/steel inserts on the shock mounts - 2 off.
Whats the best way of removing these, if they are removable, so I can powder coat the swinging arm.
Thanks H.

Hi Rookhill
I made up some extractors using scraps of aluminium and threaded rod to remove various bushes. If the swingarm bushes are worn, you may have to damage them to get them out as I think they are pushed in from either side, and you will have to punch them out from the middle.
Bronze bushes will survive the powder coating process but I'm not sure about the rubber ones as I do my own spraying and just mask them off.

You may be able to extract them using a bolt, some washers and a socket of the right size for the bush to pull into. Make sure that you pull on the outer metal casing of the bush rather than the inner as the rubber will just tear free from the outer.

Hello,
I used a small socket one side of the swinging arm and a large socket the other, put in a work top vice and tightened. The small socket pushed the bush into the the large socket. Now off to the powder coaters.
Many thanks G, regards H.
