VIN #

Post by DrScott » Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:54 pm

Can anyone tell me where to find the VIN # on my 63 Dream? I need to get a title for it and will have to have a police officer verify the # but I don't know where to find it.
Thanks in advance.

I can tell you where it is on my 66. Should be the same on yours.

Left side (while sitting on bike) on the frame piece going up behind the engine towards the seat. It is stamped and hard to see. Lay on your side with a flashlight or drop light and look close.

Thanks for the info, I probably wouldn't have looked there. I'll check it out.

This may seem rediculous but it works.
1. Go find a good flashlight and reading glasses, or a young person.
2. Lay down on your left side, head at left foot peg, feet to rear of bike.
3. Locate lower framework between where swingarm and sidestand attach.
4. If you have the spring for the rear brake light switch installed the number is behind it stamped on the frame.
5. The number reads vertically from bottom to top. I found it helps to have the light at an angle to the frame if the paint in the area is shiney.
6. Have the young person read it out while you write it down. Transfer the number immediately to your PDA so you will have it wherever you are because you dont want to spend time later looking for that piece of paper you wrote it down on.
7. Go for a ride.
