CL77 Throttle Valve Position
CL77 Throttle Valve Position
I just replaced the throttle cable. What is the proper idle position of the throttle valve? I now have an extremely high idle and suspect maybe the cable has the valves too high at idle. Looking in the carb throat, the bottom of the throttle valve is about 1/8 inch visable. Thanks.

teazer or anyone else
I rebuilt the carbs and now the engine races at idle. I searched the entire forum and found plenty of chat, I'm just not quite sure where to start.
How can you tell that the slide has bottomed out? If the slide is in corretly, what sould you see looking down the carb bore? Thanks.

Re: teazer or anyone else
Looking into the throat ya can see the cut angle of the slide.
On the side ya will see a screw which raises/lowers the slide.
Turn them OUT until the slide isn't contacting the screw.
On top where the cable enters the carb is a brass assy.
It should have the set nut out to the big end and be screwed in all the way.
ya can lift the slide and should hear it hit bottom when ya release it.
Put your thumb (left hand) into the right carb and middle (big) finger in the left carb.
Push hard while slowly twisting the throttle and be sure both slides lift at exactly the same time.
Adjust with brass assy then tighten with the nut.
Look into the throat and look as ya screw the adjuster (in) and look to see the slide raise a little. 1/32 in.
Adjust the air screw 1 1/2 turns out from bottom then ya are ready to start and adjust the carbs. ............lm
