Benly seat > CA77 / Dream

Post by Dunnett » Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:40 pm

Hi 305'ers. Just purchased my first motorcycle and it happens to be a minty 1965 Dream.

I want to install a solo seat - and I know there are all sorts of aftermarket versions available, but I think the ones found on the Benly's just look incredible.

I did a mock up of how one would look on my bike.

I'm wondering if anyone has any idea where someone might get a Benley solo seat, original or otherwise. I'm good at fabricating so mount issues don't matter.

Ideas?

Thanks!

wow nice and clean, and rare with key on right side :)

If you search this site there are a couple guys with solo seats on their 305's. And I think there might be some entries on ebay that sell them and have pics. It looks pretty sharp. Hopefully you have the original seat and will not do any ir-reversible mods to that beauty. Looks JUST like mine.

Hi lrutt - the image of this bike is one I downloaded - its not my actual bike. I don't have an image of my bike from a side view - at least not low enough to do a mock up. I flipped it horizontally because that's the angle I saw it from when I envisioned a Benly seat.

I've seen the stuff on ebay, the stuff from Thailand. Its a little "boxy" - doesn't have that saddle look to it or the space between the seat and the frame.

I suppose I could always install a custom Mesinger seat, but I'm still hoping for a Benley.

And yes - the bike I bought (haven't actually SEEN it yet - its in transport) is supposed to be as close to 100% original as one could hope. I'll be keeping everything else stock.

This is my actual machine....

Solo seat

You may want to search this site for solo seats that kellilynne and sacha put on their bikes. I am pretty partial to the original look, but theirs capture that really killer look.

That's a mirror image pic of the left side. Notice how the drive chain isn't visible on the right side of the bike and there is a shift lever there?

I did explain that the image was just for illustration of an idea. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone. Nothing sinister intended!
