I am new to forum. did not see an introduction section. i am looking for feedback on bike to see if i want to get involved. i rode dirt bikes growing up and maintained them pretty well myself. i finished restoring a 1969 chevy truck ( a 4 year + build) about a year ago and over the weekend was telling my father in law that i kind of wanted another project. I meant a chevelle or a tri-five. He said you can get my bike going. Its a 1965 305. i forget if its a superhawk or scrambler but its one of those. It has been sitting for at least 25 years and is missing something off the motor. Im not sure what i just know a friend took a part to work on it and he never got it back. So im looking for how hard/easy is it to get parts? what kind of $ are we looking at to rebuild this thing? How difficult or simple are these bikes to work on? thanks for your time any feedback appreciated.

this was my first full restoration. parts weren't actually too bad to get a hold of. the bike i got was complete but was(/is) a rusty hodgepodge of parts: old, NOS and aftermarket. its sometimes a waiting game on ebay for good stuff, but plenty of members here have parts as well.

its really easy to work on with minimal tools and a small space, so perfect for tinkering on in the corner of the garage in your spare time (why i got into this really).

Two quick words of advice. Get the appropriate manuals, and learn to use the search button on this forum. It will become your best friend. The cost can vary from as little as a hundred bucks just to get her running, assuming the engine is not stuck, to a couple grand for a full blown restoration. Keep us posted on your progress and post pics often, we love pics. Good luck and welcome to the fun. Rusty
