CA78 year?
I am a new member and am looking foward to the postings I am sure to have and read! I have a frame CA78-10317XX with motor CA-77E1038XX. I am about to apply for a title he e in southern California and would like to know the correct year for the paperwork. I love the Honda adventure I have been on for a few years and look forward to hearing from my new pals here! I have 2 blogs dedicated to my classic Honda obsessions. Google gadgitmansplace and gadgitmans Honda chronicals to see my journey! Thanks for any help.
Year of bike
Honda started the 7-digit frame numbers in 1965, but their literature does not break out the the frame numbers produced in the years 65-67. So just guessing, late '66 or '67 for your bike. Have you looked at the white tag on the wiring harness?
Use the Search Function (look up above). Use different combinations of words "like CA77vs CA78" "year of bike" and "year of dream". Be sure to click the "posts" icon in the lower left.

Harness tag
I will look today for the harness date tag before I go to the DMV. Thanks!
DMV
I would strongly recommend getting a title in your hand before you do too much work on the bike. At least get your DMV to do a 50-state search to make sure it has not been reported stolen somewhere.
You might try de-sulfating your battery and checking your rectifier, Retro Bikes in Washington sells a modern version that looks just like the original. Or you can check this site on a Radio Shack version that works well and is really cheap. Use the Search function. Try different words/combo's. Click on the "posts" icon in lower left.
