Please Help Me Identify This Seat

Post by kckranz » Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:46 am

Came across this seat at an estate sale - there was no bike or any other parts. Looking around on various sites leads me to believe this seat is from a 60s era Honda bike. The seat appears to be original, given the other items at the sale, which is actually in pretty good shape (I've cleaned it up a bit). Can you please take a look at the pictures in the album listed below? I'm looking for a bike model / series / years, and whether the seat may have cross-applications (fits several different bikes). I'm looking to sell the seat and would like to provide as much and as accurate of information as possible to potential buyers. Any ideas of value? Thanks a heap.

(I read the newbie picture posting thread but I don't have a flicker account).

Seat

I actually think it is a CA78 seat. The CA77 seats have a closed loop at the front mount and are round across the front on top where this one is flat.

It may also be from a CA 92/95. I am not too familiar with those bikes but understand they are generally about 80% the size of the 250/305 Dreams. There has been some discussion on this site about whether the seats from the two styles of bikes will interchange and if I remember right, the consensus is that they do not (though there may be a way to get it to work if you alter the rear mounting bracket or use one that matches the seat).

I hope that helps.

Yes that does help. I have also seen the seats that have the closed loop mounts in front but otherwise appear to be similar.

I will offer suggestions to potential buyers as to probable models but will include measurements as a backup.
