Starter engages when key turned on
Starter engages when key turned on
I'm working on a 1964 CA77. I have a wiring diagram and have everything at the starter solenoid hooked up correct. When i turn the ignition key on, the starter spins, without touching the starter button. Is there a short, bad ground somewhere that would be causing this? Wiring hooked up incorrcet?

Fixed it! I took the starter button housing apart and the wire have about 1/2" on the end that was exposed and grounding itself out. I put some heat shrink on the exposed wire, cleaned everything up while i was in there, and now it works as it should.Waveblaster wrote:It could be the wire for the starter button shorting. Perhaps carefully take the throttle on the handle bars apart and see if the issue stops and then if there is a bare wire.
