It was a 250 twin cylinder 8-valve DOHC race bike (along with the CR77 - 305) that was originally based on the CB72 / 77 but became a full-blown race bike that was provided to Honda's works riders for non-GP events.
It was intended to go into production as an 'over the counter' race bike like the CR93 but then Yamaha brought out the TD1......
