I'm new to Dreams but I am familiar with early 70's Honda CBs which, so far and with help from this site, has gotten my 66 CA77 up and running from a basket case. I have a problem setting the timing though:
I used the static timing procedure posted by paperslammer with new nippondenso (the kind with the oblong adjuster screw) points and I cannot get them to open at the F mark. There is just not enough adjustment in the plate and points, resulting in them opening about 1/16" before the F mark lines up with the indicator. I have the points plate turned as far clockwise as it will turn and this is best I can get. It is running pretty well, but I feel like it could be a little easier to start and idle a little more smoothly and I'm not sure if it's my timing or carb that's the culprit. Thanks!
