Drive chain slack variation

Post by Frank » Wed Jul 06, 2016 9:01 am

When I spin the rear wheel of my ca77,the chain slack varies from tight to loose. The setting varies from about .5 to over an inch. I put a dial indicator on the rear of the rear sprocket( with the chain still on the bike) and find that when the chain is at its tightest, the indicator is at its high point. It varies .020 from high to low. My question is.......Is that enough run out to give me this problem? Thanks Frank

Looks like you need a new chain do buy a quality one. Check your sprocket teeth are not hooked (worn) if they are then a new chain will soon be clapped out.
