CL 305 shifter stuck in neutral

Post by David M. Lyon » Wed May 30, 2018 12:53 pm

This 305 Scrambler has been sitting up for years and now the shift drum (Or something) is stuck in the neutral position. I have tapped lightly on the shift tang behind the clutch with a small hammer and a drift pin but it still won't budge to rotate in either direction. Looking through the hole into the tranny it all looks clean and nice with no obvious rust inside. Any suggestions on getting it unstuck without splitting the crankcase???

NEVER MIND!!! I got it loose. ...After applying copious amounts of PB Blaster and WD40 and letting it soak in, then gently tapping the shift drum cog back and forth with the light touch of a punch and small hammer it finally popped loose! WoooHooo! didn't want to split the crankcase.
