Knock Pins

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Wed Mar 20, 2019 3:10 pm

I'm putting together the head of the CA77, and am wondering about the knock pins.

In the diagram of the CA77 parts list (Page 2), it shows a knock pin and O-ring between the cylinder head and the head, parts # 19 and 21.

Does that O-ring go UNDER or OVER the gasket? Under, I would assume... There's no place for it to go/sit in, though, so does it just squish down when you tighten the head?

Also the diagram only shows the one pin and gasket, but I'm pretty sure the other pin goes on the other side, where they both act as an oil channel for the upper head, yes...?

And between the cylinder head and the engine case, the diagram doesn't show ANY knock pin to be installed, but again, I'm almost certain there are two pins that go in There, too, one on either side to center the cylinder head.

Can anyone confirm this information? I want to be absolutely sure before I button her up.

Hold that thought, I figured it out. There's two cut-outs in the gasket; I'm good. But go check out my next topic, Head Rods...
