I'm going to rebuild my carbs

Post by vespa59 » Sun Apr 16, 2006 12:31 pm

Greetings... I'm new to the forum and new to my '65 Superhawk. I purchased the bike last week after it'd been sitting for a while. It runs fine, but I can tell the carbs are a bit gummy, so I bought a couple of rebuild kits and I'd like to rebuild them.

Anyone have any documentation/advice for me? Right now, my only plan is to take them apart, don't lose anything, clean them, and try to get them back together as they were, but with the new parts. I'm hoping for something a little better than that :)

I have a carb sync tool, so bonus points if you can tell me where that hooks up to and how to adjust.

Vespa, First,Nice lookin' bike! If you have the shop manual that would be helpful in the carb rebuild and set-up. I don't know how to use a sync tool but have had very good luck following Ed Moores tuning instructions. I believe Bill Silver has some valuable stuff in the VJMC (look for a link on the home page) There really arn't that many steps to setting these up so don't get too crazy. One last thing, I use a IR gun to read the heat each pipe is making to double check my work. Love the modern stuff! Good Luck, Steve Greer
