This is my maiden post

Post by turfnook » Mon Aug 08, 2011 8:19 pm

Hey Guys!!

I live in Cicero, NY which is just north of Syracuse, NY and I have just started working on my father in-law's 1965 Honda Scrambler. Frame number is CL 77- 1003315 and Engine is CL 77E- 1003378.

I have been able to find most of the parts that I need except for the sprockets and chains. Can anyone send me in the right direction for them and or any parts suppliers that might be helpful?

Thanks for all the info!!! This forum is GREAT!!!

Adam,
Welcome to our mad house. You can find most sprockets on ebay or Ohio cycle which I don't have the url for or www.classichondarestoration.com/ has a lot of stuff and Tim is a great guy to do business with. I don't see sprockets here but www.olypen.com/retro/ has a good supply of our 305 stuff as well and super fast service. Good luck on your project and show us some pics from time to time. Chain can be had at any Honda shop, #520. Rusty

Chain and sprockets are actually 530, not 520 as on the early CL72s. You can convert to 520, lighter, less rolling resistance. These guys will make sprockets in almost any # of teeth you want, 520 or 530 http://www.sprocketspecialists.com . Ebay is a good source for 530 chains as well. An 530 o-ring chain will rub the engine cases, so avoid running one of those.
