running rich

running rich

I have a 66 CL77 and it is running very rich any ideas what to look for to lean this thing out?

hi chad<br />first check to see what size low speed and main jets are in the carbs.many times guys change to larger sizes believing that they are improving performance.also check that the clips are in the center groove of the jet needle.you can raise the clip to lean or lower it to richen the mixture.idle screw can also be turned in or out to change mixture at idle.how long have you had the bike and has it always ran rich?hope this helps.
