1966 Honda Scrambler Restore---JS

Post by jsmith1107 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 4:31 pm

Well, I purchased this bike two years ago, took it all apart about a year ago now, and finally I am getting a good start on the restoration part of it. Over the two years I have bought parts I needed--front rim, front fender and stay, swapped a chain guard, bought all the rubber parts, etc. Anyway, early next week all of the black is going to go to the Powdercoater.

I have one question though for everyone---I have done a black one and see a lot of them, have seen red ones before but how often has anyone seen a blue framed one? I was thinking of maybe going blue. Any opinions?

I like that look. Any idea how many blue were made versus black and red?

I know it is a preference thing for most people. Or is it better to leave it as it originally came??

Depends whether you are building the bike to please yourself or to sell. Sale price is better for original bikes.

I maintain that it's my bike so I get to choose what it looks like....

There is no actual data for how many of what color were issued.
I've had one blue and seen others.
I like to look.
If ya want the correct color ask for "FFA" Blue. ........lm

Ok, all of the black parts are powdercoated black--decided to stay with a dark color and they look really good---nice glossy finish. I will past a pic later.

Now, another question---how much does it take away from resale, originality, etc if a person goes with a color other than gray on the painted parts? One person I know said "do it how YOU want it". Oh, and the guy who did the powdercoating said he would have NO problem doing powder on the tank, etc and I know some have said, "dont' powder the tank".

Suggestions or thoughts on powder and a different color since there are a lot of great opinions on here?

Thanks,
Jeff

Does anyone have any ideas as I stated in my last post? I am looking for ideas and would appreciate any comments that you could give me.

Jeff
