Platinun Spark Plugs
Platinun Spark Plugs
I am looking to replace the stock plugs on my CB77 with platinum plugs, does anyone know where I can get some and the part number to look for?
They didn't bother to make any upgrade replacements for this plug. No platinum, no gold palladium or iridium. All the "D" size plugs they have now seem to have a projected tip or extended thread reach, and I don't particularly want to experiment with plugs that may bounce off the top of my piston!
A rule of thumb here, if you have a spark problem in a stock motor, changing the model of the plug will only compound the problem. Find the REAL problem and fix it. If it runs ok on the stock plugs, don't ask for trouble, keep 'em stock! The only time it's worthwhile to experiment with different plugs is with a modified competition motor, when using race fuel, or when operating in an altitude or climatic extreme. And then it's usually only a matter of changing the heat range, not the model of the plug.

A few years ago I found NGK still had D8HV and they were one of the original fine wire center electrode plugs. I bought a box and they run very nicely in my CA77. I think they are still available. I run Iridiums in most of my Bikes and Honda Fit so to run the Gold palladium seems to make sense to me
