Carb. Sliders - Oops

Post by sstaylor » Mon Jul 17, 2006 9:46 pm

Greetings,

This may be common knowledge, but while working on my bike, using the Bill Silver books, I noticed a suggestion to verify that the correct carb sliders were in the correct carbs. The book stated that if they were reversed, the engine would run way too rich. I checked, and sure enough, mine were in bass-ackwards.

FYI,
Scott

OK, so for those of us without Bill Silver's book, How do we determine whether they're in backwards or not?????????

Gary, you probably figured this out long ago, but for those who haven't...the bottom edge of the slide has a slight upward-curving cutout or relief on one side. This relief has to be facing away from the engine, i.e. you should be able to see it when you look into the carb from the intake side. If you look into the carb from the intake side and don't see a slight upward curve to the lower edge of the slide, your slides are in backwards.
