Very Excited Newbie!!

I have been cruising this forum for a while now and have really enjoyed the abundance of knowledge and comradery exhibited here. I fell in love with the Honda Dream the second I saw it. I work in the design field so I am highly aesthetic...this bike is PERFECT imo. Soo I never posted here before because I didn't own a Dream...Well I am happy to announce my first purchase of a BEAUTIFUL 66 or 67 ca77 305 Dream (not quite sure the exact year). I am also fairly new to motorcycles in general and I am sure I will have plenty of questions in the near future. I tried to buy a Dream as near to perfect as I could find because like I said I am not up to snuff on restorations at this point in time. The biggest question I have right now is..How best to secure my Dream...what are the best security systems/locks etc. All answers much appreciated!

Nice bike. I like the Black/Black. Would look great next to my Red/Red 305. When I clicked on the pic, I was directed to your Flickr page and saw the other pics of the bike. Q: Anyway you could give me the dimensions of your battery? I just went through the process of getting one and it's a little small for the compartment. I never thought of a Parts Unlimited RCB9L-B. Yours looks like it fits nice and snug within the confines. Thanks! Steve

Nice bike. Not to perhaps state the obvious but you do know the bike has a steering lock? Do you have a key for it?

I've never used more than that on a bike but where I live and ride most of the time, if I'm not going to be gone long, I can leave the key in it.

Thanks for the welcome and Steve I am away with work right now but when I am home with my Dream I will try and remember to get you the dimensions. I am aware of the steering lock unfortunately where I live you need extra security and since this is a major investment for me I would feel better securing it the best I can.

I wouldn't trust the stock "security system." It's from a time when we had fewer worries about theft. Consider that the key number is stamped on the ignition lock. If I wanted to steal a Dream, I could simply figure out where it's parked regularly, copy down the number, and have a key cut that would fit both the ignition and the fork lock. There's also the problem of parts beign taken off. A lot of what's there is held on by connectors that don't even require a wrench for removal. Mine will always be either inside the garage, between my legs, or in plain sight.
