Two shots from today! I want to all to know she is not finished, I have small things to do, and I'll keep this log going until she and I get a good long ride under our belts. Then I'll start another thread somewhere else!

Sara, seeing your bike "done" is inspiring. Wanted you to know that one of your comments here in the forum led me to reach out to Loud Mouse. I think that part of the attraction to this motorcycle addiction is the people you meet that leave a lasting impression. It takes a certain kind of person.... focused, persistent, and willing to enjoy the journey as well as the destination.

I have recently begun in earnest, the restoration of a '61 Dream Sport. I am posting here in the Restoration threads as I make progress under the '63 C77, or is it?

Your bike is a beauty! Ride safe, and take pictures of your travels with your old friend. We'll be watching for them here!

The people here are indeed very special! Part of my persistence was from them helping me along. The people are a huge part of this journey, more even than the purpose - rebuilding the Old Girl. What I am going to miss is the interactions. I'm pondering now how to keep that going - it has to.

Hey Sara, San Diego Foriegn Speedo did my speedometer and it works well. I did have two issues with them, the first was the time (almost 3 months) for turn around, the second was the bezel, they kinda scratched and hammered the newly chromed one I provided. They insisted they didn't scratch it but I know better, didn't argue with them just went home, mounted it on the bike, took another bezel down to the platers and had it redone, then mated the speedometer with the newly chromed bezel.

If you need assistance with your tach etc, let me know, I live about 7 miles from foreign speedo, San Diego. I might be able to dawg it for you to make sure it gets there and back safely and timely.

and parked her for what turned out to be thirty eight years. Had it really been that long? While I was riding along on her, reacquainting myself with her, listening to her familiar sounds, immediately at home with the way she felt, I wondered if that time had really gone by. Everything that had happened to me, my life, in those intervening years was almost insignificant. My old friend is back. She was an important part of my life, not just a motorcycle...she's my old friend, and we're catching up on all those years!

Oh what a feeling.......whoops that's Toyota. I hadn't paid attention to all of this thread and just realized how long you have had this bike! That is so cool, everything I had from years ago is long gone! My son has his first bike and intends to keep it forever, must have paid attention to all my stories. What you have written above describes perfectly what I felt back in '09 when I put my boat (bought new in '89) that had sat in the driveway for 16yrs back in the water.
