Yes warm up the cylinder barrel, place the liner on top and watch it slide back in.

OK, that was very cool! I never knew you could do that, that quickly! I always thought the cylinders were pressed in, but yeah: I heated it up with a heat gun and gave a little push and it just slid right out! And yes, it will make life a little easier - I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new lower head; Thanks guys! :)

I assume the process to install a new one is the reverse...? Just heat up the block and freeze the replacement, then drop it in...? Like installing bearings...

Hi, Make sure the liner and barrel has no carbon on them, there is a gap at the top between them when fitted and carbon gets in there in use, it's also a good idea to put a weight on the liner as soon as you drop it in to make sure it doesn't move . The top of the liner needs to be level with the top of the barrel after fitting not below it. It's ok if it's a couple of thou higher.
I use the oven to replace them but like the idea of a barbeque.

Yes, I cleaned out that little rim yesterday; I'm a big believer in Clean assembly. But until I get the new sleeve, cleaning is about all I can do right now. When I do assemble it, it will be perfectly level with the top, just the way it was before.

The guy who does my boring says that you should press the liner down after the barrel has cooled as the liner tends to pop out a little.

I use the electric oven to heat both times.
250 degrees. ................lm
