Carburetor intake insulator and o-ring damageProblem solved.
![]() Regarding Western Hills Honda, the owner is profiteering off the backs of the vintage owners. I cannot remember what the part was, but I had called them and they said they did not have it, but would locate it. I then called around, found a dealer that had it, but said Western Hills just bought it. I called Western Hills back and the price was something like 5 or more times the list price. I could have bought it for Honda list had I called the other dealer first. Terry, the parts guy at WHH is okay. He said there was nothing he could do about it. The owner sets the pricing policies. I bought a lot of parts from them. But they are now my last resource if I cannot find it anywhere else. regards, Rob Antique vehicle ownership is a pricey hobby. This is my fisrt vintage Honda and frankly I am amazed (read, happy as a pig in shit) that you can call up a dealer, check a nation-wide parts locator network and order 50 year old NOS OEM parts....at any price. For a parts cost and availability wake up call, try owning a 1930's vintage wooden powerboat.
O ringO ring faces out to the carb flange to seal against air leaks not against the hot cylinder head.

Re: O ringNot sure you are understanding the setup of the spacer. There are two o-rings used to seal each carb to head. There is an o-ring between the carb flange and the outboard face of the spacer and then a second o-ring between the inboard side of the spacer (sets in a machined groove) and the head. Rob's issue was on the inboard side of the spacer where the o-ring resides in the machined groove that seals against the hot cylinder head from air leaks. HT
