I'm in the process of cleaning and re-building my '67 CL77 carbs.
The bike was running OK but I could never get the throttle response right and the plug readings weren't consistant with the carb adjustments I was making.
As I was reassembling the cleaned carbs last night I noticed that there are two small machined openings in the float chamber on the carb bodies, one has a brass jet in it and the other doesn't (as shown in the cleaned carb pic).
The jet is missing from both carbs in the same place.
When I compared it to my spare set of uncleaned carbs, there are brass jets in both openings on both carbs (as shown in the uncleaned carb pic).
I couldn't find a part number for them which tells me they were probably pressed in at the factory.
Can anyone give me some guidance on this and if the apparently missing jets are significant?
Thanks.

Re: Carb body jets
They are vent holes.
Look at the outside of both carbs above the area ya are questioning and ya will see a small hole drilled at the vent area where the brass plug (sort of but not actually a jet) can allow the air to balance. ........lm

Thanks Brewsky and Ed, as many times as I've messed with CL77 carbs I've never known what they did.
Come to think of it, I did notice air blowing out of the side of the carb body when I blew out that part of the carb with compressed air last night, just didn't put 2+2 together.
With some luck, my evening ride when it cools down to 90 degrees might still be possible!

I looked at my collection of PJ carbs. (21 total)
I find that the Square Bowl issue (near as I know all CB72 with PJ carbs were Square Bowl) will have One Vent and it will be found on the Inside area (fuel inlet side) of the body and is a Brass Tube with a small hole.
The NOS/OEM Oval Bowl one I have has a small hole drilled in the same area but no tube. (I've never seen these on a CB72 engine) .....................lm

I looked at a few carbs from CB72's and it appeared to me that the carb body's with the power jets don't have these "air"jets or air vents. Did they all fall out or is this a design feature ?
