Main Jet/Main Jet Holder CL77

Post by sibes67 » Sun Dec 23, 2012 12:32 pm

So I set the float height using line of sight method, and wanted to make sure carbs were as clean as possible, especially that main jet.....looking at parts diagram of the carb, it seems the jet can be removed from the jet holder, right?
Looks like a screwdriver should be able to turn out that main jet, but I can't budge em. I held them up to the light, they seem open and clear, but I'd like to make sure this is clean.
Am I correct with this potential removal procedure? Thanks.

They can be removed. You need a screwdriver that fits the slot well and a wrench for the jet holder. It may also help to have a helper hold the wrench.

Got them apart using a small vice grips, laying it flat on edge of workbench, and making sure screwdriver fit well and was perfectly perpindicular to the bench--all after soaking the snot out via degreaser & carb cleaner. Am finding when one "thinks its clean", you might as well let her soak some more. That left side main jet was clogged after all. Thanks for your advice.
