Name that carb

Post by hotrodhendrix » Sat Aug 08, 2015 8:52 am

Ok so I would like to start the bike is a ca77 and I "rebuilt" this car with having zero knowledge on carbs prior to this. Basically my rebuild was to clean real well and put the rebuild kit parts where I took out the old parts. Now since I went back and put ca77 jets back in but as you see in the next pic this isn't a ca77 carb apparently. Not sure what it is off of? It was on the bike when I got it but had been many decades since last ran. Big questions: what is it off of? Will it work? And why is there a jet on the outside of the carb!? :P

So what is the jet on the outside of the carb for? I am just gonna clean up another cab I have which looks to be a true ca77.

That jet would allow more gas into the intake as the amount of air passed through the intake.
Back in the old days fellers would block that off and not use that system.
Similar to the CA72/77 carbs it is a 22mm carb. ..........................lm

Very interesting. I finished the rebuild on the actual CA77 carb last night so I will be using it instead. The engine side O-ring was a different size so gonna have to find one of those first. THanks for the help as always Edd.
