Fiber Discs?

Post by cleg » Sat Sep 10, 2011 8:35 am

I took my clutch apart as it was slipping. Everything seems to be in great shape other than the these seem to be the crappy fiber discs. After replacing with the good ones, is there a particular way that the steels should be placed (They have notches around the inner edge.)?

Cleg,

The thick steel goes in first. I stagger the notches in the steel plates.

I hope ya didn't replace with the fiber plates.
Makes no difference where ya index the steel plates as the slots are to keep the plates from warping from heat. ...........lm

Thanks guys, I just took the clutch apart last night. I still need to obtain the correct frictions. My springs are measuring 33mm, I guess they are good to go?

Here's a link to a discussion on clutch springs, and lm's recommendation;

You might check the wire diameter, but from the length it looks like you have the best ones.
