honda 5 speed gear kitsUpdate on 5 speed road going 5 speed gear set for Honda 305Hi All.
As promised earlier in the year here is an update on the 5 speed gear set for my Honda 305. I have just been told by the guys from velocettegearset.com that the gearset for my 305 is nearly ready, As soon as the kit arrives I will fit it to my CB77. I use the bike daily for an 18 mile trip on Motorway and London roads I will update you on how it performs For those of you interested I have attached a picture of part of the assembley which shows the Main shaft and gears, the Lay shaft and gears plus the selector drum. When I get any more I will post them. Regards. Matt Hi everyone!
A happy new year to you all! I now have the 5-speed road ratio gear kit for my 305 from Velocette gearset.com.The selectors took an age to make but now that they are, further supply is no problem.as several sets have been made. I have been really busy dimantling the bike, everything is in pieces. The frame and tinware stripped and blasted is at the painters, hubs polished and rims rechromed- twice. The motor has been treated to an acid etch, 350cc kit and any other new parts I can get hold of.I have several photos in various stages and will post them soon. Back to the Garage!......... Regards Matt Hi All. As promised; albeit took longer than I had hoped, Here are some pictures of my Honda CB77 bike with the 5 speed gear set kit fitted. I am so pleased with it. 1st gear does not require a load of clutch slippng to move off from stand still. It is only maginally taller than standard, you would think that you were on a 450 the way it goes up through the gears. I keep forgetting I have the 5 gears and still have one to go!. I would imagine that the improvement would be even better on a 250. I have a sprocket with two teeth less on the rear wheel and it still pulls it easily. I have also included some pictures of the bike being prepared and the 5 speed gear set.
