Like I said before you have a nice looking bike and it really doesn't matter about how or why the numbers got there as its legal now. The one thing I do know about the white paint is that up to the end of 1964 it was illegal to have a white motorcycle in Japan. Only the police could have white so either that bike was an export or as some have said the numbers were altered and the frame is a later model. There could be all kinds of reasons but the main thing is for you to enjoy it and have fun and keep the wheels on the pavement. Cliff

I knew it was a "HOT" lookin' bike but I didn't mean literally!!! It's just interesting trying to find the history and who owned it before.

I finally got to take it out for a real spin this weekend and I had a blast!! It's fun re-learning to ride again. Having to consciously think about traffic, shifting, changing lanes, stopping, starting, etc.... You get soft and spoiled driving an auto car for years. But I'm taking it safe and slow and having fun. I picked up some really cool old '60s - '70s 3/4 helmets at a garage sale for $20 each. Too bad my old punk rock leather jacket doesn't fit anymore, it musta shrunk hanging in the closet ;-)

Put those old helmets away on the shelf along with any old leathers. By now they are just fashion item, great for shows and contests but of no practical safety value.
