I already have a nice Damper and I'm wondering IF the CL triple tree could be used on the CB with CB components, along with the lower CL mount for the damper as well? I have a line on a lower mount and wondered mainly whether the CL triple tree would work or IF I need weld a bolt on MY tree, to mount it?
Thanks, Bill

I have to say that I didn't realize that they had different size fork tubes. I actually HAVE a '63 CL72, but it is in storage, til I can get around to it and I thought I could get my answer alot easier here and I was right. Thanks for the input, I will definitely be looking to mount that one. I HAVE seen a special top forward engine mount bolt that you mount the lower end of the damper on, but they usually go for some big bucks. Thanks again G-ManG-Man wrote:Bill
CB and CL fork tubes are different diameters. It would be better to mount a bolt on your lower tree.

You're welcome. Not entirely sure if all years of CB and CL's were different butI checked an early type (steel lowers) of each.
That bolt is ridiculously expensive and not easy to reproduce. I'm sure that you could come up with a much simpler fastening for the damper. Perhaps turn the existing bolt around and make up a new nut with an angled extension welded on.

Yeah, I had thought of trying something like that, but I saw a piece (that is to mount the rear (or lower) end of the damper on the CL, on ebay and went ahead and bought it (alot cheaper than the long special bolt AND will do the trick on THAT end). I'm not too good at welding anyway (wish I was).G-Man wrote:Bill
