CA77 or CA78

Post by mason123h » Wed Jun 19, 2013 12:30 pm

I was wondering what the primary differences between the CA77 and the CA78 models are. My engine number is preceeded by CA77, but my frame number has CA78 on it.
The bike is from 1964 and its displacement is 305 cc's.

Thanks for helping!

Do a search of this site. There are a number of posts. Make sure to click the "posts" icon on the lower left.

Are you looking at any specific parts?

For anything after 1963 I still believe it is correct to say that those CA78's came with CA77E engines. A few "CA78E" cases have shown up recently, but they are from 1963 and look to me like they were changed at the factory from "CA77E" cases. The sequence number should still be within 200 units (though there are a few exceptions).

Amen, conbs, Amen.

Per a previous post both your engine and frame numbers start with "3", so it's a 1963 issued Dream sold/titled in 1964.
