look, mvrk. this forum will be an invaluable resource to you. but you are gonna have to put forth some effort to use it. the search feature, while i and i am sure many others find it to be cumbersome and inefficient, will reveal the answer to almost any question you might have. and, chances are, that question has been definitively answered by LOUDMOUSE. yes, he is very....direct with his tone. he is an old-timer and knows BASICALLY EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW about these bikes. he probably would have invited you out to his place to work on things with him. i and many others have dealt with him personally on the phone and received top-notch guidance and advice, for free. he has forgotten more than 99% on this forum will ever know about these bikes. so, lets all take a deep breath, do some research, and maybe try this again?

ps, LM, the head & pistons are BEAUTIFUL! now if i can get those big oil seals in the tranny to sit still while i button her up, i will be riding soon!!!!! i swear, if i have to clean and reapply any more 3-bond i am going to freak out.

Ya are just about gone.
This is not YOUR THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The administrator of this forum does not/will not tolerate a person with your attitude and use of language to other members.
If for some reason he is busy and doesn't dismiss you then I feel sure the veteran members with ALL THE ANSWERS you will ask rather than attempt to learn yourself will ignore you.
I was correct when I realized you are lazy and want others to feed ya with information while ya demean the ones who have helped others for MANY YEARS but at the same time recognize new persons who SUCK KNOWLEDGE and give nothing in return other than VILE NAME CALLING followed with more requests for information/help.
About time ya get the picture person!!!!!!. ...........lm

a little bit of info update.

I got the bike running today. turns out a lot of wires were messed up. i replaced the battery to ignition wire with a 10G wire and replaced part of the green wire that was causing the grounding issue. I cleaned out the bowl on the carb as well as the peacock. This was my biggest problem it seems. the inside of the tank is not rusty at all as i worried for nothing. I put fresh gas in it and it took a while to circulate but it came to life. I rode it around the neighborhood. shifts great. I guy pulled me over and told me that he used to work on old bikes and gave me some usefull information.

the only negative side of the situation is that the idle is still rough and the bike revs in nueatral with no gas and the turning handle is kinda loose. any ideas? the old guy said it was a dry seal between the carb and head..... the air leaking was making it run lean. seems like a good idea but i was hoping for some feedback.

Gameplane (feel free to comment on):

1. figure out idle issues
2. change oil
3. tighten chain
4 adjust/replace brakes ( rear brake is great but front one not so much)
5. figure out why my tail/brake light is always on in first and second key positions an dhow to make sure the battery doesnt drain -the light doesnt react to the brake
6. get the headlight lighting again - could be bad bulb not really sure
7. once the mechanical stuff is taken care off i will move to visual

PS: 2 random questions:

1. the button on the LEFT side? what does it do? cause i can start the bike with just the right starter button.
2. The left side thumb switch(litttle thing you can slide up and down) what does it do? doesnt seem to do anything on my bike - I have no turn signals FYI.

Thanks. and I greatly appreciate it if i can get just straight answers, and yes i will be searching.

Whoa! What a drag this stuff is happening on this forum. To me being a relative newcomer to the 305 forum it has been a godsend. Try restoring a basketcase '66 Ducati 250 single with not much help! With all restorations (and I've done a few) the first step is always get as much info as you can about the model, get a manual and read it, get a parts list then figure out what your missing then use the internet for locating parts and info. I'm really sorry you have had an intial bad experience with us. Good luck with your project.

What do all these buttons do? Is the oil filter paper?

I can't tell whether the original poster is fourteen years old or whether the fatuous tone is just a symptom of garden-variety troll-ishness. In any event I'm surprised any members of this fine forum tried to answer his questions.
