Oldbikedude, both tires from e bay and sent to a vehicle whitewalling company. They had to adapt a machine as they only do car and van tires but it worked ok.

Whitwall tyres

Post by DJM » Tue Dec 19, 2017 3:16 pm

Nobody will make them because not enough people are 'crying out for them'

There are people out there willing to pay over the odds for correct looking white wall tyres but even they wouldn't be 'O.E.M.'

those that do buy probably use this bikes so little that they would never need a second par and some owners will keep the 50 year old originals no matter how hard and cracked they are.

Simple case of supply and demand and of course in the case of tyres they have a limited shelf life too, clearly not enough demand or someone would make some.

Seems like you have found a good compromise even if the white walls cost more than they actual tyres!
