New C72 owner

Post by Lockers » Mon Jan 15, 2018 3:49 pm

Evening all,

I've just joined the forum so 'hi' and I have also just acquired a C72. Here it is...

Image

I was wondering if there might be any advice about basic maintenance. I have the, brief, workshop book but it doesn't seem to imply much will actually need to be done!

It tries and sometimes succeeds in jumping out of, or going through, 2nd gear into a neutral. I suspect I'm going to have to look inside the cases. Are spares for transmissions available, and if so, is it Dave Silver I should chat to?

Anyway, nice to be here, to own such a distinctive looking machine, and to be looking forward to rides.

That's great - am I right in thinking that the CA77 parts book pretty much applies to the C72 as well? The pics in the parts book look really helpful.

Simon, Honda changed the design and parts for their bikes year by year so don't rely on it.
If your a purest and you have to fit the exact year nut and bolt for your year bike then you have to be careful.

Purist?

Purist, moi?

Well, not really. I'm not convinced those bars are the originals, but they may be. I'd like to keep it original, of course, but more importantly I'd like the gearbox to work properly and I need a decent piccy set to help me take it apart so that that becomes a possibility.

I entertained the idea of whitewall tyres, which I guess it originally had... but then I discovered that they cost £270+Vat as opposed to £66+Vat for black ones. That might be a powerful factor!
