Rocker Cap Removal
Rocker Cap Removal
Trying to get my head apart to rebuild. Is there any trick to removing rocker caps? Unfortunately I took the head off the cylinders and I can not get them off for the life of me. Also have a stripped screw on the points holder. I was thinking of welding a bolt to it. Would this warp the part? Thanks

Re: Rocker Cap Removal
Slide the head back on the studs and you will have leverage. .......lm

For the screw, if you can get a small flat file in there, carefully flatten the sides, then apply a pair of vice grips and turn. I had the same problem, and this worked for me.

If you have an electric heat gun, add a little heat to the outside rim of the caps (NOT a torch).Trying to get my head apart to rebuild. Is there any trick to removing rocker caps?
