I'm with Geoff on this one - when I finally got the rods in their correct places yesterday, after some measuring to the specs in the parts diagram, once they seat you can't really torque them, which is actually kind of nice. Yes, I'll have to torque down the acorns on top when I finally get the top on, but I'm not going to go all Schwarzenegger on them. Bad things happen. "Yah".
Speaking of which, imagine MY surprise when I got it all ready to be buttoned up and discovered my cam timing mark was 180 degrees out...you learn a lot about yourself in those moments.
ESPECIALLY when you fix that problem, put the engine (AND Head!) back together Again and neglect to put some paper towel in the cam chain tunnel and drop a piece of wire into the engine. Talk about being served a nice big steaming hot bowl of Restraint, with a side of Colorful Invective...a glob of grease on the end of a dowel rod saved the day, though - luckily.
