main stand spring hook

is the main stand spring hook supposed to be flat or rounded, in perspective to the thickness axis. sohuld it lay flat as if cutout from a piece of sheetmetal ? or as if it was cutout then bent/shaped? mine looks like a c-shaped egg cradle

thanks ! i figured it should be flat, but wanted to double check before flattening it.

how about the rear brake rod ? i'm guessing it should be straight and not generously arced over it's length.

Speaking of springs, I almost took an eye out on my CL350 last summer, so used this method to put the spring on with no swearing involved. Stuck one end of the spring in a vise and bent it back and forth adding pennies, then put it on the bike and pulled the pennies with a pliers...
