x over of 2nd and 3rd gears in cb72
Hi Gruzzi
Not sure I'd bother .. see Bill Silver's guide for comments which I can back up.
I did this on mine when I restored it and while it does bring the lower gears together it also
made the gap between 3rd and 4th too big.
Not much of an issue if your taking it easy but trying to keep up with an RD350 on the road
or a Suzuki Super Six on a track parade I found I was taking it to 8000+ rpm in 3rd and changing
up to top only for the engine to drop to @6000 rpm and just out of the power band.
Next time I have the engine out I will probably swap it back to standard.
I think its probably better with a CB77 ..
just my opinion,
Phil

I must add my part to this. I ride a 1963 Super Hawk which I rode before I rebuilt the engine and "X'ed" the gears. My experience is the engine RPM's are much better now than before and I ride in the Hill Country of TEXAS. ..................lm
