GETTING SUCKED IN-WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Post by jcspc » Wed Mar 18, 2009 8:28 pm

I am almost done with my CL77 and it's turning out nice, I think at least...but a co worker of mine went to a service call to this guy's house and then he had to call me. This guy had in his garage what he said was a Honda Dream 175, 1970. Blue. One dent. Everything there. Runs. Chrome on the pipes with no rust. 20 years of dust from sitting in the garage. $600.00
Now, first thing I did was try to id this with what info I had. I haven't seen the bike yet but I am thinking it's this:http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/images/c ... _Cd175.jpg
(sorry, I don't know how to import pics)Which is a 1970 CD175...
In your aggregate opinions, is this a desirable bike, if it is a good, complete, running, wash it down and ride it and it will turn heads bike that is worth $600.00 . What do you think the ballpark worth of it would be as is or restored?
My wife won't like this much...

quick trip to the NADA guide yields ...

Excellent: $2,000
Very Good: $975
Good: $600
Fair: $375
Poor: N/A

not that it's always spot on, but seems to be a pretty decent guideline for what these bikes go for. I'd think $600 not unreasonable.
