My loom (CB72 1964) is a bit hacked about around the battery area. It's mostly intact except I have a black/white wire from the rectifier going to what I think is the earth battery terminal and I have a thick (starter solenoid thickness) wire attached to it which looks like it should be attached to an engine bolt - is this correct? The parts manual isn't 100% clear but it looks like that may be the case.
Engine is back in, will update my resto thread at the weekend with pics

buttery earth cable
My "buttery earth cable" (see wiring diagram) grounds to engine bolt. (62 cb77). Maybe your cable's a little short?
Great job on the coloured wiring diagram by the way, a real e3steve classic. Thanks, Lee

Thanks Lee, on both counts! The colour sure makes it easier to follow.
My grounding cable certainly looks OE, with the flag-type lugs at each end, but my CB's a bit of a mutt, so I'm not sure which parts are '61, '64, other years and AM Honda.
Needless to say, I'm waiting for a celestial, lm-type intervention now.....
edited because I missed a comma!

My ground cable fits the engine bolt, so that's where it's gone. The Bk/w wire runs to the rectifier though and was definitely bodged to the earth connector on the battery. I'll have another look to see tonight and maybe post a pic.
edit: Here's the pic - is this an original rectifier? Looks a bit like one to me, the bk/w cable at the bottom of the pic was connected to the earth connector on the battery.

No way, Pedro! That's AM.
The wires are added, also. That black/white is, in fact, white/black (main colour/tracer). The bk/gn to the fuseholder is a tack-on too.
If it was mine, I'd be partly rewiring with the correct colours. You need short lengths of 2.5mm²: green for the rec ground, red for the fuse holder. Let me know if you need more help.
