Thanks for the warm welcome, gentlemen. I know it's always a pain to deal with the new guy and all the basic questions that will inevitably come from him. I have always felt the test of any good forum is to see how they deal with those new guys... you guys are knocking it outta the park for me!

My VIN is CA781033683

Pretty sure that is a '67, right?

Ted

Ted, newbies are never a pain; the forum welcomes new blood and their bikes / problems -- keeps us all slightly south of insane!

That VIN is, indeed, in the '67 production range.

Should the '67 have the large battery tray... if it was assembled with correct parts, that is?

Thanks for the VIN verification!!

The answer to that question lies with a proper C/CA expert, not a pretender like me! I'm a CBer with a little CA knowledge.....

Your bike should take the 12N93A.

I see they do make a newer sealed unit, as seen here on eBay:

I like using the sealed units only because they won't corrode the surrounding metal on most bikes. But I also recognize the OG factor of having one of these:

For you guys that drive your bikes regularly, what do you like to use? Maybe I should pick up the old school battery and put it away for shows and use the sealed unit for in between events? :^)
