i think the best way, is to avoid "loading it to the post" and rather, use a photobucket account or similar to put a bunch of your pictures up on to your account. Then you just copy paste the hyperlink and you get nice big pictures right there in the thread.

Under the battery cover, below the battery tray, I seem to recall, Bill.

What Year Is My Dream?

Post by houseowax » Thu Nov 19, 2009 12:33 pm

I should start off by saying that I am a complete newcomer to the world of motorcycles. I recently decided to take the plunge and bought what was sold to me as a '63 CA77. Whether or not it actually is a '63 is something I'm having an increasingly difficult time ascertaining.
I'm on the hunt for a new battery and I want to be sure I get the right one. It seems that a '63 'early' and a '63 'late' take different batteries.
How do I determine exactly what year my bike is? The frame and engine VINs don't match- should I source the battery using the body # or the engine #?

Engine: CA77E 317284
Frame: CA78 312 419

Thanks everyone. I'm tankful to have found this forum and look forward to getting to know you all and sharing advice and opinions here.

Both '63. Buy parts using the respective serial nºs.

Your battery

Post by Eljeef » Wed Dec 02, 2009 12:49 am

Hi. Your bike will take the larger battery, not the 12n9-3a. They are hard to find but do show up on fleabay once in awhile. I got mine there from a dealer around Chicago I believe. Good luck.
